Dr Tan has extensive experience in caring for patients with both benign and malignant breast conditions including breast lumps, nipple discharge, mastitis, breast abscesses, hereditary breast cancer syndromes, high risk breast lesions, breast screening and breast cancer

“Excellent breast care brings together the science of clinical judgment and surgical expertise with the art of empathy, compassion, and respect for each patient’s unique journey.”

Prior to entering private practice, Dr Tan served as a specialist breast surgeon at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) for 10 years and was Clinical Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School.

Dr Tan was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) by the Ministry of Health to undergo advanced subspecialty training in oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery at the Nottingham Breast Institute in the United Kingdom.

She further broadened her expertise through training and observerships at several internationally renowned breast units, including The Royal Marsden Hospital (United Kingdom), National Cancer Center (Korea), Kameda Medical Center, and Nakagami Hospital (Japan). These experiences enable Dr Tan to offer a comprehensive range of modern, individualised treatment options for her patients.

During her time at KKH, Dr Tan pioneered minimally invasive breast surgery and performed the hospital’s first endoscopic mastectomy, expanding surgical options for patients seeking less invasive treatment approaches.

Dr Tan represented KKH in the SingHealth Young Women with Breast Cancer (YoWo) group and serves as a Global Ambassador for the Breast Cancer in Young Women Foundation, reflecting her commitment to improving care for younger women affected by breast cancer.

Dr Tan has published in several well-regarded peer-reviewed journals and is regularly invited as a speaker and surgical trainer both locally and internationally. An advocate for public education, she frequently delivers breast health awareness talks in both English and Chinese.
